Summer Fun

This post is a long time coming and I'm a little overwhelmed by the # of pics I have to sort through to choose what to post. So, I'm going to just throw some pics on here and hope you enjoy them. The girls are growing up so fast!! Chris and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary on May 29th and enjoyed a trip to Arlington TX for the weekend on a business/celebration trip. Hannah turned one year old on June 15th. Madeline will be 4 1/2 in August. Hannah is learning to crawl on hands and knees (after months of scooting on her bottom). Madeline has started swim lessons for the first time. We're having a busy but very fun summer, packed with lots of days playing in the front yard with the hose, watering the gardens, playing at Big Splash and going to other outdoor outings. Summer with children is the best.

I'm 31!

I celebrated my actual birthday with my girls while my hubbie worked to bring home the bacon. He made an excellent dinner for me the evening before and breakfast the morning of my birthday. Such a wonderful man!! 31 ...it's hard to believe. I always thought I'd feel much older in my 30s than I do. We had a great day. Madeline helped me commemorate with some pictures.

Hannah's Scoot

Hannah has come up with her own version of crawling. She won't move on her hands and knees for anything, but if you give her enough time, she'll make it across a room on her bum. It's really very cute! There's some boring time the the middle where she won't do the tricks I want her to do, but near the end you'll get to have her blow you a kiss :)

Hannah saying NOOOOOOO

This video is kind of long but it makes me laugh. Hannah learned to nod her head the other day, but then learned to shake her head no. She favors no...already! This video shows Chris trying to get Hannah to do her tricks and she's not going for it. Watch how dizzy her eyes get!

At the end, Hannah gets excited when Puppy Madeline comes in the room. Madeline likes to be a puppy a lot these days and she's taught Hannah how to "woof". She gets so excited when our puppy comes around.

Madeline's "Nap" Times

Since Madeline has gotten older, she doesn't always like to take naps like she used to. But we still have "rest time". She is expected to stay in bed for at least an hour to rest, and I've been very fortunate that she and Hannah take their afternoon siesta at the same time so I can relax, work or attempt to put the house back together before they are up for Round 2. Some days, Madeline stays up the entire hour and plays in her room alone. Some days, she stays up for about 45 mins, comes out asking if her time is over yet, gets sent back to her room for 15 mins and conks out cold for a 2 hour nap. Some days, she falls asleep within the first 10 mins in bed. On all days, I get a short little break.

Madeline's latest nap time ritual is to have us chuck her pillows at her as hard as we can just before we leave the room. She loves it when they knock her over and she just laughs and laughs. Then she creates a "cozy home" for herself and her favorite animals or babies of the day.

I am almost always greeted with a surprise at the end of nap time. I've decided to post pics of the few surprises that I've been able to photograph :) Madeline makes me laugh daily, she's such a great kid. 2 of the pics are of her nestled in with her pillows on separate occasions. And the other is a pic of the "artwork" she created during the other day. She came out stark naked, besides the stickers you see...
